Michael Officer brings extensive senior management expertise to Central Florida
ORLANDO, FLA. — Central Florida Urban League (CFUL) today announced that Michael Officer will join the agency as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. In his new role, Officer will be responsible for managing day to day operations and expanding CFUL's presence in Central Florida.
Officer will oversee the direct services programs delivered through CFUL's Economic Services, Youth, and Workforce Development departments. These services range from Foreclosure Mitigation, Emergency Financial Assistance and Homebuyer Awareness within the Economic Services area, to Youth and Parental Engagement and CFUL's soon to be launched STEM Academy that encourages students to stay in school. Officer will report directly to CFUL's CEO, Allie L. Braswell, Jr.
The former Senior Director of the National Urban League's (NUL) $12.5 million Mature Worker Program has devoted his career to empowering children and adults through his involvement with community programs in New York City and the District of Columbia.

Officer previously served as a Senior Program Officer at the D.C. Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation, where he presided over $6 million workforce development and summer programs that served 12,000 students.
"I am truly excited about Michael joining our team, and bringing his years of non-profit program management to assist in our endeavor to deliver quality service to our clients," Braswell said. "Michael will be a great addition to our staff, because he understands the National Urban League movement and the needs of our communities across the United States. His knowledge of administering effective, cost conscious programs will be a key enabler in meeting the needs of all Central Floridians."
Officer managed a staff of 120 employees and a budget of over $2 million as the Division Director for Community Schools and Youth Programs at the Educational Alliance, Boys and Girls Club in New York City. Additionally, he managed start-up and delivery of after-school program services at 10 New York City Department of Education schools, serving 3,000 students.
Educated in England, Officer earned his Master's of Arts degree from the University of Reading and his Bachelor's degree from Kingston University. In addition, he received a Certificate of Non-Profit Management from Columbia University.
