Orlando, January 31, 2023 – The Central Florida Urban League would like to extend its deepest condolences to Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings on the passing of his father, Freddie Demings.

“Our community lost one of our patriarchs today with the passing of Freddie Demings, the father of Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings,” said Paula Hoisington, the Chairwoman of the Central Florida Urban League. “Freddie served as the inspiration for his son’s public service career and in his more than 100 years as a son, father and grandfather, he embodied the best of our community. He will be missed by all who knew him.”

 “The Demings name is intertwined in our community and on behalf of the Central Florida Urban League, I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to Jerry, Val and their entire family on the passing of Freddie Demings,” added Glenton Gilzean Jr., President and CEO of the Central Florida Urban League. “As a past member of our Board of Directors, I was able to see first-hand how Freddie’s influence helped propel his son to a career of public service; something our community will always be grateful for.”
