URBAN LEAGUES ACROSS FLORIDA COME TOGETHER TO #VOTETOGETHER

ORLANDO, OCTOBER 24, 2018The five Florida chapters of the National Urban League are joining forces to host multiple #VoteTogether parties as a way to encourage greater participation in the upcoming midterm elections.

The events are being hosted as part of #VoteTogether, a national initiative to bring together families, friends and neighbors in celebration of civic engagement and the act of voting. The initiative aims to create 2,000 voting celebrations across the country.

“As Americans, we are fortunate to live in a democracy where every citizen has the right to express himself or herself at the ballot box and as a community organization, the onus is on us to ensure that as many individuals as possible have the opportunity to do so,” said Glenton Gilzean Jr., President and CEO of the Central Florida Urban League. “Regardless of political affiliation, we want to ensure that as many people as possible are excited and motivated to cast their ballots on or before November 6.”

The Central Florida Urban League is organizing the following events:

October 24: Trunk or Treat at Rosemont Community Center (4872 Rose Bay Dr, Orlando), 5 pm

October 26: Happy Hour at Arooga’s (227 S Semoran Blvd, Winter Park), 6 pm

October 27: At Frontline Outreach Center (3000 C.R. Smith St, Orlando), 10 am

October 31: At Bethune Cookman University (640 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd, Daytona Beach), 11 am

November 3: Movie at the Park; Winter Park Community Center (721 W New England Ave, Winter Park) 6 pm to 10 pm

November 3: Peace Walk to the Polls: Begins at WellCare: 6801 W. Colonial Dr., Orlando. We will then walk to and from Hiawassee Library (7391 W. Colonial Dr., Orlando) for the advance voting: 9 am
